Instructor Training

How it works

Our instructor training will develop any new or experienced instructor into someone that can effectively facilitate any of our safety training courses. There are three training components required to teach our courses:

  1. Haland Instructor Training
  2. The course you plan to teach (e.g. fall protection)
  3. Technical foundations for the course you plan to teach

Haland Instructor

We look at the 16-hour Haland Instructor training like a bootcamp for anyone planning to instruct our courses.

Training will include:

  1. Instructional skills
  2. Classroom management
  3. Practice delivering material
  4. Self-evaluation skills

Ideally, an instructor candidate will have completed at least one of their goal safety courses prior to

Technical Foundation

Technical Foundation

Instructor candidates will dive deep on the topic they’re aiming to instruct.

Technical foundation training will typically explore:

  1. CSA/ANSI Standards
  2. Manufacturer requirements
  3. Industry best practices
  4. Equipment inspections and use

Depending on the topic, instructor candidates may be able to complete technical foundation component remotely or they may need to come to our training centre in Burnaby, BC

Safety Course

The instructor candidate must attend their target course of instruction as a student.

Yes, it has to be a Haland course.

We want the instructor candidate to:

  1. Experience the expected standard of course delivery.
  2. Experience learning activities from the student perspective.
  3. Develop a sense of how they might instruct the same course.
  4. Identify some of the instructor candidates areas of strength, and areas for improvement.

Cameron is an incredible instructor with an energetic attitude and surprisingly successful in keeping everyone's attention to the course which is difficult to do. Most other courses I attended were struggling to achieve that. I really enjoyed my time during the course and liked the interactive contribution of the attendees who were varying from senior managers to field employees. This sort of diversity creates a way more friendly environment and less distance between people.

Cameron Hacault designed the Fall Protection course for Burnaby Community and Continuing Education. His work is detailed, thoughtful, and works to build engagement in his students. Cameron is exceptional in his area of expertise, and I would strongly recommend him for teaching Fall Protection or if you are looking to build courses in Occupational Health and Safety.
