We take radical responsibility for client success

Running a training business

Accessibility, student and client success are vital. We were called by one of our very best clients (EllisDon) to deliver Confined Space training on June 1. Shortly after the course started, our instructor messaged me to say we need to reschedule the training. She demonstrated impeccable integrity.

We cancelled the training for that day, and rescheduled for June 16. Between June 1 to 16, we

  1. Had the course manual, slide deck and final exam professionally translated to Español.
  2. Reached out to a bilingual instructor we had trained last year. He was keen to help, and agreed to teach the course en Español.
  3. Spent time before the course to get the him familiar with the course content, activities and learning objectives.
  4. Sent me to class with him as technical backup if the instructor wasn’t able to answer any questions or was unclear on any learning activity.

We paid for both day 1, and day 2 instructors’ full pay. We paid for the translation. Extra cost to the client? Just the price of book printing. We take radical responsibility for client success. It’s our responsibility to plan adequately for course delivery, and it’s our responsibility to ensure students get value. We do NOT sell certificates.

We put our blood, sweat and tears into providing the best learning experiences that we can. Our bilingual instructor is doing an excellent job today!

NOTE: We had provided training to this exact same group previously. That training was for mobile equipment where language was less important than skills. EllisDon had a bilingual worker to help with translation, and students skills performance was the priority. Our instructor did an excellent job here as well. There’s no fault from the employers side. They thought this was just like mobile equipment training.

If anyone wants to bash the mistakes made… don’t bother. We’re all doing the best we can with the tools we have. We sincerely appreciate the trust that EllisDon and their team put in us.
