Today I’m teaching a course I’ve never taught before. Well — that’s not quite right. I’ve taught fall protection more than every other course combined. What I’ve never taught is this version. We rebuilt it from the ground up. And I’m super nervous. 640 hours of development time across multiple versions. There’s currently:
- No slide deck
- No lesson plans
There is:
- Student manual
- Final exam
- Instructor copy of the student manual
This is by design. Building a slide deck before you’ve taught something is a trap — you end up rebuilding everything after the first delivery anyway. I’ll record every word I say today and use that as the raw material to build the lesson plans. What I’m looking for: failure points.
Not hoping it fails — actively hunting for what’s broken in the design and the delivery. Every failure point I find today is something I can fix before the next pilot. I’m nervous because I care. Like a LOT! That’s it.
