We’re giving our Fall Protection course (Version 3.3) it’s first test run today. This version is a lot different (yet still similar) from 3.2. THE three main differences:
- Practicality.
We teach more around how/why to select the best equipment/system for the work. For example, primary vs. secondary fall protection.
- Accessibility.
We removed some of the technical parts regarding strength ratings. For example, we had taught various hardware strength requirements, yet… if the hardware is appropriately certified, it will automatically meet those requirements. Having students memorize numbers didn’t add value.
NOTE: We kept mandatory information in the course. Don’t freak out on me.
- Applicable across Canada.
Well. Mostly. Except Alberta (if ESC approval is required), Ontario and Newfoundland/Labrador. This helps a lot with our licensed instructors in different Provinces/Territories.
All of our courses are subject to ongoing improvements. The goal is excellence. All the time. If a topic, activity, image, set of content…. If ANY of it doesn’t add value. We get rid of it. Doesn’t matter if it took 10 hours to develop, $500 to create the artwork or $100 to buy the images.
Now that I say that, I see what one of our instructors was saying about this cover image. We do have to replace it. Lol.
