We’re running a forklift class today. The 6 students have never been trained. 2 hours into class they have taught each other 80% of the information. I have only added the 20% that was missing. In facilitating learning like this, we show a huge amount of trust in participants to be curious, to learn and share.
This creates a high trust environment and a self-learning machine. As a facilitator, we are just a vessel. We are not special. We’re here to help, NOT to drive. This approach we intuitively use was given some credibility from a colleague when he taught me yesterday that showing trust increases oxytocin (a feel good hormone). Win-win!
