Cam has been an adult instructor since 1999, and a health and safety consultant since 2006.

He aims for excellence in all parts of course design and delivery.

Nicola has been an adult instructor since 2019 and has shown an aptitude for facilitating live online learning courses.

She is known as friendly, authentic, and dedicated to every learner she works with.

What’s with the name “Haland Learning”?

Cam, the founder of Haland has started numerous companies, and when founding Haland in 2019 wanted this one to be different.

He wanted this company to be based on love, authenticity and a dedication excellence. Cameron has 3 children whose names are Hazel, Roland and Desmond. The name HALAND is a creation of two letters from each child’s name HA (Hazel) LA (rolaND) ND (desmoND).

Having the word LEARNING in our name was also a conscious decision. Learning is our goal. Not only for our students, but for ourselves.

Lastly, even the circle has meaning. The circle has two arrows pointing in the same direction. Those arrows symbolize the process of effective instruction. We cannot design and deliver training that is pushed at students. We have to create ongoing reciprocity between instructors and students for the best outcomes.

I had the pleasure of working with Cameron for over 8 years at the BCCSA, collaborating on several projects related to instructional design, instructor training and quality assurance. My team uses the following words to describe him: creative, energetic, solutions oriented and motivated- with great communication skills! Cameron expertly addressed each project goal demonstrating a clear understanding of our needs as his client. I was particularly impressed by his ability to take on a subject matter of which he had little knowledge. He took the time to clearly outline learning objectives, simplify complex ideas within the course content, and develop instructional material of high quality. Cam is an asset to any company and a great person to consult with on instructional related projects.

I found the live online Fall Protection course a very practical and successful program. The convenience of being able to work from home or office is important these days. The class interaction was still present and better controlled than open classes. We still did all the practical activities and used real equipment during training.I can see this being a step forward in getting training to larger areas where courses are not always practical or available. As a First Aid instructor and previous safety instructor I will look into the possibility of pursuing this career path again.
